- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 9 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 3/4 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet with nonstick spray or a silpat mat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Cut in half of the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, mix the pumpkin puree and buttermilk. Add this to the dry ingredients and stir until just moistened.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for 8-10 times. Roll or pat out to about 1-inch thick.
- Use a floured biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter before serving.
