Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups brown rice
  • 3 cups chicken bone broth
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons grass-fed butter or ghee
  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the brown rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear; drain well.
  2. Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel for better searing.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine all seasoning ingredients.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and sprinkle with half of the seasoning blend. Cook until pink (about 2 minutes per side); set aside and keep warm.
  5. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and rinsed rice along with the rest of the seasoning. Toast rice for about one minute while stirring.
  6. Pour in chicken bone broth and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 22-25 minutes or until rice is tender.
  7. Once cooked, gently stir in shrimp and garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley before serving hot.
