  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb lasagna noodles
  • 4 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 large onion
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
  2. Add ground beef; cook until browned.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and seasonings. Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  5. Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
  6. Layer meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture in a baking dish; repeat layers.
  7. Top with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes until golden.
