  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 8 ounces mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten eggs, milk, diced green bell pepper, diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sauté sliced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms until softened. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of the loaf pan. Spread the vegetable mixture evenly over the meat layer and top with slices of provolone cheese.
  5. Add remaining meat mixture on top and gently press to seal edges around the cheese.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes. Then add shredded provolone and mozzarella on top and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until melted.
  7. Allow resting for about 10 minutes before slicing.
