  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon – 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl fitted with a dough hook, combine warm water with yeast and sugar. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, and half of the flour. Mix on low speed while gradually adding the remaining flour. Increase speed to medium-low and knead for about 7-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover loosely with plastic wrap or a tea towel. Let rise in a warm area for about 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and shape it into a log; divide into 16-18 pieces and roll each into thin logs about 7 inches long.
  5. Arrange the logs on a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper; cover with a towel and let rest for another hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake breadsticks for approximately 14-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Meanwhile, mix melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl.
  8. Once baked, brush the tops with garlic butter mixture immediately before serving.
