Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou work well)

  • 4 oz blue cheese (Gorgonzola, Roquefort, or your favorite variety)

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans, toasted

  • 12 tbsp honey or balsamic glaze

  • Fresh thyme or rosemary leaves (optional for garnish)

  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pears
Wash and halve the pears lengthwise
Use a melon baller or small spoon to remove the core and a bit of flesh to create a cavity
If needed, slice a small bit off the bottom of each half so they sit flat

Step 2: Stuff the Pears
Place the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish or directly on a serving platter
Fill each cavity with crumbled blue cheese
Top with chopped, toasted walnuts or pecans

Step 3: Bake or Serve Fresh
For warm pears: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 8–10 minutes, just until cheese softens
For cold/room temperature: Skip the baking and serve immediately

Step 4: Finish with a Drizzle
Drizzle honey or balsamic glaze over each pear
Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and a light crack of black pepper for extra depth
Serve immediately and enjoy the contrast of flavors and textures

Notes

Use Ripe but Firm Pears – Too soft and they’ll fall apart
Toast the Nuts – Brings out their flavor and adds crunch
Customize the Cheese – Try goat cheese or brie if blue cheese isn’t your favorite
Drizzle Just Before Serving – Prevents sogginess and keeps presentation clean
Serve on a Bed of Greens – Arugula or mixed greens make a beautiful base
